Description
The female Subanen blouse is said to be highly influenced by the closed-neck and high collared Chinese attire. This subanen blouse came upon when a Chinese lady trader, Fua Kho, married one of the tribe's headman sometime in 1801. She introduced the sequences, buttons, and bead-hugging attribute of the dress. The Subanen blouse is owned by Bai Janice Andus, the 6th wife of Datu Tangkilan Andus. The information is researched by Nonoy Arevalo. This blouse can be found at the Provincial Museum (currently located at the 2nd floor of the Provincial Library, Zamboanga Del Norte).
