Description
On March 8, 1945 the first military invasion in Mindanao took place when the US military brought in by air two companies of the 24th Infantry Division at the landing field. In two days, 16 planes (Vought F4U-1 Corsair and the Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless dive bomber) from the Marine Air Group-12 had flown in at the same landing field to provide combat air patrol while the Thirteenth Air force set up base for its liberator planes known as B-4, B-25 and A-20.
